Valued Citizens Initiative is a Non-Government Organisation that provides Academic and Social Justice Support Programmes to various stakeholders – Learners; Educators; Senior Management Teams; Youth at Risk and Children in Conflict with the Law. Initially operating in Soweto as a pilot programme, the organisation has grown and spread its operations to three other provinces, namely: KwaZulu-Natal; Gauteng; Free State; Western Cape and Limpopo.
The primary objective of the organisation is to encourage the youth of South Africa to take responsibility for their civil rights, to abide by the rule of law and take pride in our national identity. This is reflected in all the eight programmes offered by the organisation which include leadership; social justice and life skills programmes supporting the curriculum.

REQUIREMENTS
An Undergraduate Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in education or community development or social work or communication would be an advantage.
Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in the field of training and development.
Must have own transport or at least a driving license and/or willing to travel.
Sound understanding of the National Education Framework, National Development Plan 2030 and National Action Plan.
Must be Bi-lingual, English and another South African Official language(s).
Experience in Facilitation of Training with good communication and interpersonal skills
Able to read context and audience we serve.
Understanding the power of Empathetic Listening Skills while enabling an audience to reflect, learn and act on their learnings.
Ethical – Accountable, confident, reliable, time conscious, flexible and problem-solver to adapt to situations.
Good report writing skills giving attention to detail.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct soft skills training for our youth and/or the professionals’ part of the school’s ecosystem educators/SMT and/or communities
Guide our target groups to master a specific skill and knowledge to develop a positive attitude to support positive change, using the most suitable methods ensuring behaviour change;
Take on a leadership role in respect of the subject and guide our beneficiaries to gain mastery;
Mark assignment, assess, evaluate and report on beneficiaries’ progress and on their achievements in due time;
Recognise that learning is an active process and be prepared to use a variety of creative methodologies to meet the outcomes of the Valued Citizens Programmes (role-play, games, story-telling, experiential learning, debates, open dialogues, use of newspapers) while establishing a training environment which stimulates positive learning;
Maintain accurate records of attendance registers to be sent on weekly basis and write detailed accurate reports on monthly basis per training site;
Participate in training, supervision and multi-disciplinary team meetings when required;
Communicate on monthly basis with the Operations Manager and/or Managing Director about needs, concerns, innovations and planning regarding the Valued Citizens Programmes’ delivery.
